Project Spotlight 2021 – Greenwich Hospital Redvelopment

#ProjectSpotlight2021

As the sector lead for healthcare, Caitlin Masters is excited to be working with HammondCare and leading the BM_ team alongside Simon Phillips on the redevelopment of Greenwich Hospital.

“As hospitals continue developing to serve the growing needs of our cities, care and health services are increasingly provided in densely populated and built-up areas,” said Caitlin. “These environments are often devoid of characteristics which enhance wellbeing, and are poorly suited to servicing the needs of the sick and frail.”

The Greenwich Health campus will bring together subacute hospital services, residential aged care and serviced seniors’ living, within a healing environment. The site offers a unique opportunity to develop a health precinct within a protected pocket of dense vegetation in the Lower North Shore of Sydney. Onsite vegetation includes a mix of exotic species and mature, remnant native flora, which together creates a rich ‘forest-like’ sanctuary from the busy inner city.

The project recently gained approval from the Independent Planning Commission. Further design has been undertaken to develop the scheme, and subject to final planning approval, a staged construction program may begin in mid-2022.
